THE GROUP SHOOT WITH NEAL SLAVIN
JULIA DEAN PHOTO WORKSHOPS : SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA September 30 - October 2
Lighting is one of the key elements to the success of any size photo production. This workshop teaches participants to light photographic productions through the group portrait format. Each student will learn to use the lights and equipment appropriate to the kind of production he or she intends. Whether it’s full lighting, fill-in lighting or ambient lighting, participants will learn to take advantage of it all. In addition to learning about preparation, pre-lighting and final execution of a production, students will also learn about choosing the appropriate equipment, spaces, locations and backgrounds for their productions. They will also learn how to avoid obstacles or use those obstacles to their advantage.
This is a hands-on course in which students will create and prepare a medium-sized group portrait production of about 20 people by the end of the weekend. Everyone will participate in the production’s lead-up, the pre-light and the final execution. This is a terrific opportunity for students to work collaboratively, putting all their talents to use into creating a group photo production as they’ve always wanted to but never knew how!
